Happy Emancipation Day

A shared heritage and culture is one of the principal characteristics that has allowed for the creation of the ACS.

Emancipation day, August 1st is a regional historic milestone for many former slave colonies as it marks the abolition of slavery. Even for those who were emancipated at a different date, there is still a history of slavery that is shared.

As we observe this day across the region in whatever way, let us remember our similarities and find comfort that we are not alone. Together let us seek to improve the Greater Caribbean and remove obstacles that hinder our path to success. Let us remember the strength, hard work, sacrifice and ingenuity that our ancestors employed in order for us to be where we are today.

Happy Emancipation day to all from the ACS.
