World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day

August 19, 2022

“It Takes a Village”

Today, the ACS joins the world in commemorating World Humanitarian Day. We take the time to celebrate and salute the hundreds of thousands of volunteers, professionals and crisis-affected people who provide urgent healthcare, food, water, protection and so much more in times of disaster.

When crises occur the first responders are usually those affected by the crisis. They receive support from health workers, first responders, data analysts, advocates, fundraisers, negotiators and so many others. Indeed, it takes a village to help people in crisis.

As we observe this very important day, let us remember that in crisis recovery there is a role that we each must play. Regardless of how small our roles may seem, together we can make a big difference.

Let us join efforts to protect human dignity and achieve a better present and future for all!
