GUATEMALA HOSTS WORSHOP FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE REGIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN TOURISM

With the aim to adopt commitments to develop the appropriate arrangements that will strengthen the tourism sector by increasing the level of competitiveness, a workshop was developed for the Implementation of the Regional Framework for Technical Vocational Education and Training in Tourism the 23 of September of 2016 in Guatemala City. This Workshop was designed for the tourism sector of the Greater Caribbean, to provide technical assistance for the Ministries of Tourism of the Member States and Associate Members of the Association of the Caribbean States (ACS). One of the goals of the workshop was to achieve the commitment of the participants work with their institutions and their central governments to implement the provisions in the Regional Framework, along with the creation of a regional working group at the level of the countries of the ACS, which is the one who will coordinate the implemented actions. Speakers at the workshop included the Pan- American Confederation of Schools of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Tourism (CONPEHT, for its Spanish Acronym) and the Inter-American Center for knowledge Development in Professional Training (CINTERFOR), both institutions are part of the Regional work group TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training in Tourism) at the level of International and Regional Organizations. Also participating were Central America Certifications S. A (CERTIFICA for its Spanish acronym) who developed the proposal of the Regional Framework and the action plan.
