Tribute on the Occasion of the 2nd Anniversary of the Passing of Professor Norman Girvan
In acknowledgement of the 2nd anniversary of the untimely passing of Professor Norman P. Girvan, Former Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States and brilliant Caribbean academic, the ACS Secretariat, together with the Chair of the ACS Ministerial Council hosted a special tribute to his life on April 15th, 2016.
The tribute included remarks by Their Excellencies, Guillermo Vázquez Moreno, Chair of the Ministerial Council, Alfonso Múnera, Secretary General of the ACS, David Prendergast, Jamaican High Commissioner, as well as the son of the late Professor Girvan, Alexander Girvan, who currently serves as the Coordinator of the ACS Caribbean Sea Commission.
Among those who attended the event were Ambassadors and Heads of Diplomatic Missions representing ACS Membership, the Acting Director of CARICOM and Caribbean Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Ambassador Reginald Dumas, career diplomat and former Head of the Trinidad and Tobago Public Service, as well as Dr. Lancelot Cowie, retired Senior Lecturer (University of the West Indies) and newly appointed Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to Cuba.
